NetTrekkers Comic Yearbook – Book #1
The NetTrekkers Comic Yearbook – Book #1 is a compilation of the NetTrekkers comics that appeared in The Canadian Reader during 2008-2009. In each of the eight, three-page, full-colour stories included in the Comic Yearbook siblings Lily, Patrick and Christopher travel to a new location in Canada by pressing the 'Enter' key on their magic computer. During their adventures, they find out more about a region or place in their country, then return home with a press to the 'Home' key.
Engaging and educational, the NetTrekkers comics are written by well-known Canadian children's non-fiction writer Vivien Bowers and illustrated by talented Ontario cartoonist Mike Cope. They provide an ideal springboard into a new unit, an excellent source of non-fiction information about Canada, or just good reading for Canadian students in grades 3 to 5.
Each class set of 15 Comic Yearbooks costs just $145 (taxes and shipping included) and is accompanied by a comprehensive 130-page teacher's guide that includes a literacy lesson plan for each story, plus photocopiable student resource, activity, and map pages that may be completed using the included briefing sheets or cited websites. Additional comics may be purchased in quantities of 10 for $45.
The NetTrekkers Comic Yearbook – Book #1 includes the following titles:
1. The Great Lakes
2. Arctic Ice (The Canadian Arctic)
3. Parliament
4. Snow Wars (Roger's Pass)
5. Salut, Bonhomme! (Quebec's Carnaval)
